It takes excpetionally patient and unwavering leadership to persevere through the prolonged process of building a new business and navigating through transformative times in an established industry with entrenched interests.
[From the book ‘Working Backwards’ by Colin Bryar and Bill Carr]
It is remarkable how much long-term advantage people like us have gotten by trying to be consistently not stupid, instead of trying to be very intelligent.
[Charlie Munger]
It’s a false notion that the best athletes are always positive, optimistic, and full of confidence. They too have voices of doubt, negativity, insecurity, and fear. They also have the same voice as you and me, telling them they’re not good enough.
What differentiates the best is their ability to fade these noises into the background, like background music in a restaurant. They do not judge those voices in their head as bad, they do not fight them, and they also do not fall into the trap of believing them. They are just thoughts, not reality. Stop trying so hard to silence these voices. Turn the volume down on them, while using them as a reminder to focus on what’s important.
